Push Hard and Stay Playful with Jason Skeesick

It could be lonely being an entrepreneur. That’s why you have to have the dedication to push harder. At the same time, you have to stay playful to keep things fun, especially when you’re thinking of scaling the business.

Ultimately, for you to be successful, you have to be the best expression of that authentic version of yourself, especially as you’re Creating Your Encore Career

Jason Skeesick, U.S. Army veteran, coach, entrepreneur, and creator of Spear and Clover, shares some things you need to know when it comes to entrepreneurship.

Making that Leap Into Entrepreneurship

  • Start with the foundation, what is the business? What are the goals of the business? What's important to you? How do you want to energize those goals? What are the mission, core values, and goals, and what is the offer? How are you demonstrating value and solving a really big problem for whoever it is you serve?

  • If you need to build a tall building, you’ve got to have the frameworks. That's the foundation. Imagine building a building that requires scaffolding in place. People often have these goals, and they don't really consider what their life would be like. If they took what they're currently doing, and just applied that much revenue of the business to get done, then don’t consider these as frameworks.

How to Teach Yourself to Market

  • It’s not that hard to learn marketing. But it's a lot harder if you're doing it for something you don't care about.

  • Make sure that you pick something that is so important. But if there's resistance that you can't overcome, it might be because you actually don't really want to.

  • Even if you’re the best in your industry, nobody will know if you're not marketing.

  • You are the expert, but you need to really understand whatever the client's problem is.
