See this content in the original post

What is the future of manufacturing? Think about mass customization, product and process optimization, as well as finished goods such as phone covers, dental aligners, clothing, shoes, and whatnot. Joining me today is Chris Hill as we talk about Additive Manufacturing.

Chris is the Technology Assistance Program (TAP) Director at The Center for Industrial Research and Service. (CIRAS) is part of the College of Engineering and the Office of Economic Development and Industry Relations (EDIR) at Iowa State University.

Chris has worked with manufacturing companies for more than 26 years. He has held a variety of manufacturing, purchasing, quality, engineering project, and program management roles for both domestic and international projects. Chris leads serious efforts in building technical skills and deploying advanced manufacturing technology in Iowa manufacturers.

We'll dive deeper into these concepts:

  • Why is it a useful tool in the toolbox?

  • What are some typical applications and non-typical applications?

  • How have Iowa companies benefited from using AM?

  • What might the future hold for AM technologies?

  • Scale Models
