#80: How to Improve Your Presentation Skills and Get People to Listen

See this content in the original post

We’ve all attended a presentation only to leave and immediately forget everything we’d learned. Why does this happen? Likely, the presenter wasn’t interactive, didn’t make the presentation fun for everyone, and didn’t tell stories. These common mistakes make the audience bored and unlikely to retain any information.

On the other hand, when presenters connect to the right energy, connect with their audiences,  and really perform their presentations, the impact is amazing. Both the presenter and the audience members enjoy themselves and are left with a powerful takeaway.

In this episode, I am talking with Rick Davis of the Davis Presentation Group about more strategies for giving effective presentations.

Rick can help you find ways to CONNECT to positive sources, PLAY with ideas and interests that energize you and make you come alive, and PERFORM in the role you were always meant to portray.

We'll dive deeper into these concepts:

  • The lessons Rick learned as he built his business and began helping people with presentations.

  • First steps to becoming a better presenter.

  • The typical mistakes presenters make.

  • How many points a presentation should have.

  • How to utilize stories well in presentations.

  • Taking the time to rehearse and develop our presentations.

  • The impact of being more intentional about our presentations.

  • General presentation formats you can use.

  • The benefit of pauses while presenting.
