LFF_Ep071_IG.png

I am delighted to have Kurt Heiar, Associate Professor and Director of the University of Iowa Statewide Venture School Program. He will share his insights from helping hundreds of entrepreneurs develop their dreams. He works with 7 different locations in the state of Iowa with many people exploring startups in each location. Kurt has led 5 startups himself and is currently the CEO of a startup in addition to his other duties.

The University of Iowa Statewide Venture School Program is a seven-week program for Iowan citizens that helps them understand what it means to take an idea from just an idea and turn it into an opportunity, or at least assess if there's an opportunity attached to it. There are now close to 700 individuals who have graduated from this program over the last six years representing over 400 startup, early-stage companies, and in some cases, existing companies wanting to become more entrepreneurial.

In this episode we’ll cover:

  • Kurt’s experience with Startups

  • The entrepreneur’s journey

  • The mindset an entrepreneur needs

  • A little bit about doing customer discovery
