Ready for your business to reopen? First, you have to make sure you’ve done the internal work necessary to help you move forward.
1. Spend time learning lean.
The idea: If everybody was to save two seconds every day, that's a tremendous amount of operational improvement by the end of the year! Check out Paul Aker’s concept of learning lean through these 2 Second Lean videos.
2. Start thinking about post-COVID-19 operations.
Social Distancing
Alternate shifts
Taking people’s temperatures
The possibility of remote work
3. Explore the whole concept of lean operations.
Think about what kind of lean operations you could have. What are your pain points? What in the past has frustrated you every day? What eats up time every day in your operations? Think about how you could do something differently. YouTube is a powerful avenue for finding how-to videos.
4. Interview your customers, suppliers, and your employees.
How are they picturing what they're going to do going forward? How have things changed for them? Do they need something different from you in terms of products or even maybe additional services?
