As Cameron likes to say, to get attention and build a following, you need good content, and his work proves that.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Cameron on Creating Your Encore Career and he shared some of his secrets for video marketing. Let’s dig into what he shared now.
Content Creation in the Moment
One thing Cameron has been challenging himself to do lately is to write five social media posts a day. He is doing this as an exercise in creativity and putting his thoughts into words.
Most days, he’s been doing this while he walks his dog. He challenges himself to make 10 videos in 30 minutes on these walks. This has helped him build his muscle of creating in the moment.
If you want to build this muscle as well, you can practice something similar. Challenge yourself to keep your phone on you so you create content in the very moment when inspiration hits. Try to squeeze in as many posts as you can or do what Cameron did and make 10 posts in 30 minutes.
Preparing to Market Yourself on Video
If you’re brand new to video marketing and just thinking about getting started, there are a couple considerations Cameron recommends you take.
Firstly, remember that it's not that scary. You can find all kinds of excuses not to show up. However, it's when you break past the mindset of, “Do I have to do this?” that real transformation will occur.
Remember that you get to do this. You get to help people.
Additionally, the great thing is that you already have all the equipment you need right there on your computer or phone. It’s just a matter of hitting “record” on Zoom or on your iPhone. You can even edit videos on your phone for free. This makes starting video marketing a no-brainer.
What to Say In Your Videos
As you’re writing outlines for your video content, the big thing to remember is that you're solving people's problems. You just have to transfer this to a video script.
Firstly, use the problem you solve as your hook. For example, say, “Do you struggle with creating content?” One of the keys is to make sure the problem you use in your hook is big enough to “stop the scroll.
From there, you could say, “Here are three ways to start creating more consistent content.” After that, you just list those things out for 30 seconds or however long you want to make the video.
At the end of the video, give a call to action. It doesn’t always have to be salesy. You could simply say, “comment below if this helped you” or, “do you have anything else to add to this?” Just give something for people to do after they finish your video.
Start applying these video marketing “secrets” in your business and watch your brand explode!
