Accelerating Your Progress with Coaching a Conversation with Marcia Erickson

Making the leap from being a Corporate Leader and Expert into becoming a Solopreneur can be daunting – but the rewards are great. You can work when you want, where you want, and do the work you love.

And so, how do you transition from being your corporate job to becoming a Silver Entrepreneur? What are the skills that you can take with you and what new skills do you need to learn and develop?

What steps do you need to take in Creating Your Encore Career?

  • Back in the corporate world, you've adapted to corporate routines and habits of action. And so, you have to go back and create new routines for yourself to help keep you on track.

  • In the independent world, they don't know who you are and they also don't know what you do. Market yourself by making it personal then build and nurture those relationships.

  • Find your target market. Instead of offering many things, look to something you can specialize in.

  • When you're coaching multiple businesses, they all have the same challenge, it just looks and feels a little bit different. How you apply the strategies may be different based on their industry, but the skill sets you're going to use are going to be the same.

  • Be humble enough to learn things, especially with regard to technology. Educate yourself about the different online tools and platforms out there.

  • Be innovative, grow and change. Try something and if it works, great. If it doesn't, pivot and don't delay.

Remember, the rewards are great in an encore career – you can work when you want, where you want, and do the work you love.
